The 13th edition of the Luxembourg Sustainability Forum was held yesterday, 22 October 2024, at the Tramsschapp cultural centre with a full house of 350 people and 450 people connected live. Organised by IMS Luxembourg, the event focused on the positive impact of artificial intelligence (AI), its challenges and its hopes.
Discussions explored the complex issues surrounding AI, including its democratic, environmental and social implications.
Participants had the opportunity to discover 10 key innovations capable of providing answers to various current challenges. Among the highlights of the day were talks by Aurélie Jean, a specialist in algorithmic modelling, and Marc Faddoul, Director of AI Forensics, who captivated the audience with analyses of the promises and risks of AI. The presentation of Cornel Amariei's Lumen glasses, designed to help visually impaired people, enthralled the audience. These glasses send signals that enable users to move around independently. A round table discussion with experts from Microsoft and Data for Good addressed the ethical and practical challenges posed by this technology.
