The ISL's motivations to participate in IMS Luxembourg’s activities:
This year (2024), our school is celebrating 60 years of outstanding international education. Looking ahead, sustainability constitutes a key component of our vision.
We are serious and intentional in our aspirations to understand our impact on sustainability more deeply, and to become better equipped to put nature based learning & education for sustainable development at the core of our schoolwide sustainability framework. As a non-profit, we enjoy our associate membership but would like to step up to full membership to benefit from full access to all elements of Luxembourg's leading network for corporate sustainability.
The ISL's Sustainable Development Policy:
Sustainability is a common thread running throughout our strategic vision and our vision implementation plan. The principal elements are captured neatly in our Schoolwide Sustainability Framework. The structure of our Schoolwide Sustainability Framework is research based and is best described as having four key components. Student Learning is at the centre of everything we do at ISL. That is why we consider it to be the pivotal point of our framework around which the other three distinct (yet closely intertwined) areas of influence rotate: Organisational Culture; Physical Place; and, Educational Programmes.
The ISL's Sustainable Development actions and frameworks:
Sustainability is one of the core concepts in our strategic vision. The Director has appointed a Head of Sustainability to the schoolwide leadership & management team. We have created a schoolwide sustainability framework. We joined The Green Schools Alliance (a peer-to-peer network with a mission to empower schools across the globe to lead the transformation to a sustainable, equitable & climate resilient future). We have a Student Energ Vision Team & Climate Academy. We are commited to installing solar panels. We are a signatory to the IMS Diversity Charter. We attended #LSF2023 & other IMS events. We will be at the BNE Foire in March. We will host Luxembourg's first ever International Education & Sustainability Leadership Summit (which includes a public symposium) from 18 to 20 April.
