Swiss Life’s motivations to participate in IMS Luxembourg’s activities:
Sustainability is one of the four strategic themes the Swiss Life Group highlighted in its 2024 strategic plan. Some initiatives have been identified within this framework, some of which are outlined below. Working groups are in place to coordinate and ensure the implementation of the necessary measures.
In addition, the results of the latest Employee Engagement Survey in Luxembourg indicate that employees are looking for more information and concrete actions in this area.
Our objectives in joining the IMS would therefore be
- to develop our "culture" and understanding of the issue, both at the management and employee level
- to find concrete and pragmatic tools and approaches corresponding to the themes we wish to develop;
- exchange best practices with other market players.
Swiss Life’s CSR policy:
It is a policy coordinated at the Swiss Life Group level under "Sustainability". The procedure is divided into four areas: Business, Employees, Society and Environment.
Swiss Life is mainly positioned in these different areas where the company can have a real impact. For example, it is
- Signatory of the "UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights" and establishment of a "Declaration of respect for human rights" document
- Strengthening of the responsible (financial) investment policy; mainly in the areas of proprietary investments, third party investments and in our independent economic advisory activities;
- Impact on the planet
- adherence to the Paris agreements
- Massive investments in Swiss Life owned buildings (European leader in office real estate)
- 35% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2024
- CO2 neutrality from 2022
- etc
Swiss Life’s CSR actions and frameworks:
In Luxembourg, in addition to the general objectives set by the group, various pragmatic initiatives exist. For example
- Occupation of a low CO2 emission building (BREEAM-certified)
- Revision of the company car policy
- Manage for performance" project to combine individual well-being and collective performance
- Extended flexibility in working conditions to facilitate a better work-life balance
- Local charity actions:
- Rock Against Cancer concert
- Sponsorship of the Garisart Therapy Academy
- Sponsorship of the MUDAM
- Purchases from the workshops of the "elisabeth" group or others
- etc.
