Composil’s CSR policy:
We have launched Composil ReUse, Europe's first carpet tile re-use scheme.
Producing 1m² of carpet requires 5kg of refined petroleum. Our starting point was a startling observation. In the absence of opportunities for recycling, these carpet tiles are systematically sent to the incinerator when they are replaced. So we created a structural solution to encourage the re-use of used carpet tiles rather than their systematic replacement by new ones.
In practical terms, Composil ReUse is launching the first carpet tile re-use and recycling scheme, with the aim of speeding up the construction and property sector's transition towards greater sustainability. Carpet tiles that customers want to dispose of will be removed, reconditioned and stored by a social enterprise for adapted work. Reusable tiles will be remarketed and sold by us, while non-reusable tiles will be upcycled by a carpet manufacturer. The positive impact of this solution can be measured in terms of tonnes of CO² saved and oil saved.
Composil is now offering a comprehensive, sustainable solution to maximise the use of every stage in the product's lifecycle: from use, through recycling, to reuse. This is perfectly in line with our philosophy and slogan, now known to everyone as We Care.
Composil’s CSR actions and frameworks:
Composil ReUse is the creation of a new professional and quality sector in the sustainable construction sector: reuse of office carpet tiles.Composil ReUse was born out of the lack of sustainability in the construction sector. In essence, we are trying to make this sector more sustainable by offering a solution to deconstruction sites by recovering their carpets and offering a choice of re-use tiles for construction sites. Composil ReUSe focuses 100% on circular activities. The aim of the project is to be able to offer a global circular solution to our customers.1) to use: the Carpet Caring Program service increases the lifespan of carpets.2) to reuse: harvesting, reconditioning and offering to the market carpet tiles that are reusable3) to recycle: at the time of harvesting, any tiles that are not reusable will be recycled at the carpet manufacturer Tarkett in order to make new carpet tiles.
