On Tuesday May 14, 2024, Diversity Day celebrated its 10th anniversary! This national day is a privileged opportunity for organisations to take concrete action for greater equity and inclusion in the professional world (whether or not they are signatories to the Diversity Charter). The event aims to unites companies, public organisations and associations to promote diversity.
The day concluded with the official signing session of the 39 new signatory organisations of the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg. This event marks the start of a commitment to promoting and managing diversity, or the formalisation of a new or existing commitment, and brings together the leaders of the new signatories. Their presence at this session is compulsory, to show that this voluntary approach is being taken at the highest decision-making level of the organisation.
The official Diversity Day tours
The official tour was organised in the presence of Ms Yuriko Backes, Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity and Patron of the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg, accompanied by a delegation from IMS, represented by Christian Scharff, President of IMS Luxembourg.
Four activities took place along the way: ‘Vie ma vie @ Sodexo’ at Sodexo, presentation of the results of the working group on intergenerationality at work at ACL, visit to an exhibition at Handicap International, and finally fun activities on stereotypes at the Keter plant.
Diversity Day ended with a celebratory event featuring a question-and-answer session between the Charter’s privileged partners, the new signatories and the public. Discussions focused on topics related to the six articles of the Charter, providing a platform for sharing ideas about taking the first steps as a signatory, measuring impact and communicating on these issues. The ‘Giant Inclusion Fresco’, given by Benoite Aubé, Doctor of Neuroscience, also raised awareness of the benefits for everyone of a collective commitment to a more inclusive working world.
