“Trees in the City - Business in Action” is a pilot project launched in 2025 by IMS Luxembourg in collaboration with the City of Luxembourg. Officially presented at the Luxembourg Sustainability Forum on 25 November 2025, the project aims to strengthen the city’s tree heritage and promote active greening across the territory by engaging organisations based in Luxembourg City: companies, public entities, associations and more.
The project’s objective is to test, on a small scale, the conditions for implementing future Local Green Deals, by bringing together private and public stakeholders around concrete urban greening actions.
Already, 7 IMS Luxembourg member organisations have committed to planting 149 trees on their grounds this winter. The goal is to anchor this dynamic over the long term and jointly prepare the next Local Green Deal projects.

Programme: Key Steps
- Technical consultation
- Assessment of soil viability and site constraints with your gardening contractors.
- Selection of tree species proposed by the City and submission of your planting layout plan.
- Collaboration agreement
- Signing of an agreement formalising participation.
- Tree collection and planting
- Scheduling the tree pick-up date with the City’s Parks Department.
- Planting the trees on the dedicated plots provided by participating organisations.
- Communication and visibility
- Providing the necessary elements for the City’s communication materials.

All companies, associations and institutions based in Luxembourg City and willing to actively contribute to urban greening are eligible to participate.
The project is open to organisations of all sizes—public or private—whether they own or rent land within the municipality.
Each participating organisation agrees to:
• Plant trees on land located within Luxembourg City, whether owned or rented.
• Ensure long-term maintenance of the trees to guarantee their survival (except in cases of force majeure).
• Collaborate with the City to validate the number and species of trees, giving priority to local and adapted species.
• Provide the City with all required information (location, layout plans, selected species, planting date).
• Accept public recognition of its engagement (articles, tree counter, mapping, official communication).
• Contribute directly to the planting of 30,000 trees and to the greening of the city.
• Advance their CSR strategy through a visible and high-impact environmental action, with visibility on the City’s communication channels (mapping, tree counter, press).
• Strengthen team cohesion and engagement around a concrete, hands-on project.
• Demonstrate their role in the ecological transition and reinforce their territorial commitment.
