INDR and Responsibility Europe join forces to promote a demanding European CSR recognition
The Institut national pour le développement durable et la responsabilité sociale des entreprises (INDR) is a founding member of Responsibility Europe, the European network that brings together the most demanding and credible CSR labels, aligned with the international standard ISO 26000.
This membership enables companies certified with the ESR – ENTREPRISE RESPONSABLE label to automatically benefit from European and international recognition, thereby strengthening the credibility and visibility of their CSR commitment beyond national borders.
In this context, INDR actively contributed to the major European survey conducted in September 2025 by the consultancy Time to Be for Responsibility Europe (RE). The results clearly confirm, with supporting data, that CSR certification is a true driver of performance and transformation for organisations.
A significant contribution from certified companies in Luxembourg
Out of the 230 companies and groups currently holding the ESR – ENTREPRISE RESPONSABLE label in Luxembourg,
66 Luxembourg-based organisations participated in the survey, making a significant contribution to this large-scale European study.
Overall, the study is based on a panel of 743 organisations, divided into two independent samples:
- 414 organisations holding a label that is a member of the Responsibility Europe network;
- 329 organisations engaged in a structured CSR approach, but not certified.
This active participation by ESR-labelled companies highlights the growing maturity of CSR in Luxembourg, as well as organisations’ increasing interest in structured, independently assessed, and recognised approaches.
Clear results: CSR certification creates value
The study results are unequivocal:
CSR certification is perceived by organisations as a strategic investment with tangible outcomes.
Tangible economic benefits
CSR certification is seen as a strategic investment:
- 56% report easier access to new markets or public tenders;
- 41% observe directly measurable financial impacts;
- 26% benefit from improved access to public or private funding.
A driver of sustainable transformation
Certification also plays a key role in management and governance:
- 88% observe a direct impact on their organisation’s transformation dynamics;
- 90% of certified organisations have a structured CSR approach (compared to 75% of non-certified ones);
- 84% manage CSR at executive level.
Enhanced image, credibility and internal engagement
The benefits are also intangible, yet essential:
- 80% report an improvement in their brand image;
- 83% observe stronger employee engagement and sense of belonging;
- 78% note improved relationships with stakeholders.
Overall, 80% of organisations are satisfied with their certification, and 9 out of 10 would consider renewing it.
Choosing a demanding CSR label: a key success factor
However, the study highlights an essential point: not all labels are equal.
The benefits observed are closely linked to the choice of a demanding CSR label, based on:
- a robust framework aligned with ISO 26000 and the Sustainable Development Goals;
- independent and impartial evaluation;
- a rigorous methodology, including on-site assessments;
- clear requirements in terms of governance and communication.
These are precisely the foundations of the ESR – ENTREPRISE RESPONSABLE label developed by INDR, in line with the standards of the Responsibility Europe network.
