Exhibition Overview
Gathering explores the subtle dynamics of presence, absence, and shared space.
Throughout the 18 works on display, Luan Lamberty shows figures in domestic interiors,
interacting, communicating, or absorbed in mundane activities. The gestures suggest
intimacy, distance, vulnerability and support, and yet they resist any specific interpretation.
Artist Statement
Gathering is not only about people coming together. It is about sharing space, holding
attention, waiting, remaining with one another. Sometimes in closeness, sometimes in
distance. Throughout the exhibition, figures sit at tables, face one another in shared interiors
or appear in moments of separation. They communicate, drift into daydreams, or remain
absorbed in a phone. Their gestures suggest closeness, absence, support, or distance without
ever fixing a single narrative. The images feel familiar yet cannot be pinned down exactly.
The uncertainty is the point. It encourages reflection and personal interpretation, opening a
quiet space for ambiguity and emotion. Chairs, tables, plants, shadows, and everyday objects
act as quiet participants. An empty chair, a plant whose shadow dances into another form, or a
nearly transparent body: these elements create spaces where presence and absence blur, and
what is missing becomes as important as what is shown. Attention, vulnerability, and support
are sensed rather than explained.
Across the exhibition, the works approach social and political questions indirectly, through
everyday scenes and subtle shifts. In the series for trans rights, ordinary objects become
carriers of resistance: Poetic, humorous, and reflective of visibility, belonging, and the politics
of everyday life. Opposite this series, changing presents a fragmented view of a swimming
pool changing room, touching on transformation, vulnerability, and the fluidity of identity.
Here, gathering is not a fixed state but an ongoing process. The exhibition invites viewers to
pause, to step in, and to complete the scenes through their own perceptions.
