Odyssea asbl will once again participate in this year’s Researchers’ Days, taking place from 28–30 November 2024. Organised by the Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg, this event offers an engaging look into the world of research through hands-on, interactive activities.
As a Luxembourg-based association dedicated to marine conservation and research, Odyssea asbl has prepared an educational activity focused on sustainable fishing and marine conservation. Although Luxembourg is landlocked, its per capita fish consumption ranks among the highest in Europe. Yet many remain unaware that the fishing industry is one of the greatest threats to marine ecosystems. To bridge this knowledge gap, we invite participants to explore various fishing methods—such as trawling, longlining, and pole-lining—while discussing the challenges of sustainable fishing, including overfishing, bycatch, and entanglement.
The first two days of Researchers’ Days are reserved for secondary school visits, with the event opening to the public on Saturday, 30 November, from 10 am to 7 pm at Rockhal in Esch/Belval. Entry is free! Join us and meet one of Odyssea’s marine scientists to learn more about our oceans and how we can protect them.
