A huge turnout at Rotondes and online on 26 September to demand political responses to the challenges of climate change, the biodiversity crisis and the urgent need for a just transition in Luxembourg.

While there has been a proliferation of political round tables around the elections in recent months, the event at Les Rotondes on 26 September was of a completely different nature and scale. Organised by a collective of around a hundred organisations, institutions and businesses and over seven hundred citizens gathered around the Nohaltegkeetsrot, its aim was to obtain concrete answers to the immense challenges facing Luxembourg in the next legislature, namely the climate emergency, the loss of biodiversity and the transition to a zero-carbon society. The Rotondes auditorium was packed to capacity, but around a hundred people were able to follow the event live on the www.oneplanetluxembourg.lu platform, where the 2 h 20 min video can now be viewed.
It was under the common banner of One Planet Luxembourg that the evening's hosts, Norry Schneider, vice-president of the Nohaltegkeetsrot, and Laly Chivard, vice-president of the CNEL, presented the representatives of the invited parties Sam Tanson (déi gréng), Franz Fayot (LSAP), Max Hahn (DP), Christophe Hansen (CSV), Sven Clement (Piraten) and Gary Diderich (déi Lénk) to a series of questions in three major thematic blocks, following a meticulously regulated tempo that left no room for evasive speeches.
One Planet Luxembourg continues its action!
The evening ended with a vibrant appeal from the young Laly Chivard to politicians to consider the interests of future generations in their decisions for the next five years. The 100 partners of One Planet Luxembourg, led by the Nohaltegkeetsrot, were delighted with the event, which attracted a large audience at the Rotondes and online. They hope it will have an impact on the content of the coalition negotiations. But the momentum created by the growing One Planet Luxembourg community will not stop there, and they will continue to press for the next legislature to be one of action!
OnePlanet Luxembourg looks forward to seeing you on Monday 9 October to discuss the next coalition.
