Today is World Refugee Day, and it's not just another date on the calendar—it's a powerful reminder that we have the ability and responsibility to act.
On this particular day, Afrilanthropy a.s.b.l, an associate member of IMS, wants to present their solidarity app, "Riding the Rainbow," which was born here in Luxembourg. The app allows all of us to make a difference in the lives of young refugees by encouraging the direct donation of pre-loved sports items, toys, electronics, and musical equipment to young refugees, promoting social integration.
This initiative also highlights the value of the circular economy, not only in preserving the planet but also in having a real impact.
Created by Ukrainian developers, it leverages technology to dismantle the divide between donors and recipients, encouraging connections and generating long-term support networks, coping strategies, and solidarity. The app has rapidly spread outside of Luxembourg and is now operational in 11 countries. Riding the Rainbow has made a difference for nearly 800 young refugees from 20 nationalities and aims to keep expanding its impact locally and globally.
If you want to join the effort, you can download the app, post used belongings, and become an active "ambassador" in their community and network. Afrilanthropy also welcomes collaborations and sponsorships from interested organizations who are keen to demonstrate their leadership on issues of the circular economy and the integration of vulnerable people in our society.
