In 2023, 16 companies took part in the campaign, enabling the collection of one tonne of clothing.
In 2024, 25 organisations mobilised, collecting 2.6 tonnes of clothing.
In 2025, 33 organisations collected 2.9 tonnes of clothing.
However, we would like to draw attention to an essential point: if our wardrobes are overflowing with clothes to donate, this is a clear sign of a deeper underlying issue.
How to take part?
- Register your organisation via this form.
- Set up a collection point in your premises so employees can drop off their clothes.
- Communicate internally and externally using the communication kit provided by IMS.
- Raise awareness among your employees, if you wish (swap, awareness campaign, sewing workshop) in partnership with Lëtz’ Refashion.
- Inform IMS at the end of the collection. Spëndchen will come directly to your premises to collect the bags.
All collected clothes will be donated to Spëndchen, the National Centre for Clothing Donations and Sorting, before being redistributed to associations and people in need across Luxembourg.
What to donate?
Adult and children’s clothing, clean and in good condition (no holes or stains).
Priority needs include: men’s clothing (small sizes), warm clothes, sportswear and winter accessories.

Donating, yes, but responsibly
Donations are truly valuable when:
- the clothes are of good quality and in good condition;
- specific needs are identified by associations and there is a genuine spirit of solidarity;
- the donor ensures that the clothes will be reused through a local and ethical network, rather than being shipped abroad or destroyed (which is guaranteed through the IMS collection with Spëndchen and Lëtz’ Refashion);
- the donation is part of a mindset of conscious consumption, rather than overconsumption.
Why it matters
If our wardrobes are overflowing with clothes to give away, it is a sign of a deeper problem.
The fashion industry is responsible for 2 to 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions and produces millions of tonnes of textile waste every year. In Europe, 80% of discarded textiles are buried or incinerated, even though more than half could still be worn. In Luxembourg, the equivalent of 95 T-shirts is thrown away every minute.
To reduce this impact: consume less, consume better, and adopt sustainable habits.
