Dementia in the workplace: better detection, better support

Neurocognitive diseases, such as dementia, do not only affect the elderly: they can also directly or indirectly affect the world of work. The aim of this conference is to raise awareness among employers, HR managers and colleagues of this reality, which is still not widely addressed.

During the conference, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the main neurocognitive diseases, their symptoms, their evolution and their repercussions on daily and professional life. Particular attention will be paid to distinguishing between simple forgetfulness or concentration problems, often linked to stress or fatigue, and genuine cognitive disorders, to avoid the frequent confusion with depression or burn-out.

The conference will also look at the warning signs, as well as practical ways of communicating with the person concerned. It will offer keys to better managing the relationship with an employee suffering from dementia, while respecting the dignity and needs of each individual.

It will also look at the double life of an employee who is also a ‘carer’. Finally, the conference will offer an overview of Luxembourg employment law and ways of creating a more inclusive and positive working environment.
The conference will be followed by a light lunch.

This choice encourages a more sustainable diet that respects the living world. This menu also encourages the inclusion of people on specific diets for medical, ethical or religious reasons.
