Ramborn Cider Co., the Luxembourgish producer of artisanal ciders, is proud to announce the renewal of its partnership with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Natur- & Geopark Mëllerdall, and Bee Together to host the 3rd edition of the City Nature Challenge Luxembourg. This two-day event, taking place on April 27-28, 2024, will showcase the rich biodiversity of the cidery’s surrounding meadow orchards, while offering a unique opportunity for citizens to contribute to science and reconnect with nature.
The City Nature Challenge is a global initiative aimed at engaging citizens in the documentation of urban biodiversity. Participants will use the iNaturalist mobile app to catalog, by taking pictures, as many plants, animals, and insects as possible, turning Ramborn's neighboring orchards into a living laboratory. This event, coordinated in Luxembourg by the Luxembourg National Museum of Natural History, aligns perfectly with Ramborn's commitment to preserving its unique terroir and nurturing biodiversity, a cornerstone of the company's DNA.
On Saturday, meet a local beekeeper (between 1 to 4 pm) and learn more about the importance of bees and pollination, as well as the ancient craft of honey-making, a beautiful example of Human-Nature collaboration. On Sunday, LIST scientists and experts from our partner organizations will be on hand to share their knowledge at informational stands. Participants will be able to attend a briefing (at 11:15 AM or 1:15 PM) and embark on a self-guided exploration using provided itineraries. A new activity is proposed for this 3rd edition: a 20 kilometers bicycle hike led by Andy Schleck, Luxembourgish former professional road bicycle racer who won the 2010 Tour de France. 5 stops are planned along the way to observe and collect information on biodiversity. Places are limited to 50 participants, and registration is compulsory.
In addition to the educational activities, visitors can enjoy music, games, arts & crafts for children, cidery tours, and tastings. Local homemade BBQ, burgers (vegetarian option available) and fries will be available for purchase throughout the event at the cider farm.
The event will take place at the Ramborn Cider Haff, 23 Duerfstrooss, L-6660 Born, Luxembourg, from 11 AM to 6 PM on both days.
