The Chamber of Commerce's House of Sustainability presents the second Panorama of Sustainable Development in Business, produced in partnership with the Chambre des Métiers, IMS Luxembourg and INDR. Two years after the first publication, this new survey aims to assess the progress made by Luxembourg companies in adopting sustainable development.
Key facts
- The report reveals that 44% of Luxembourg companies are already applying a sustainable development approach, and that an equivalent proportion believe that this is vital for their future. By 2024, 71% of the companies surveyed had formalised or planned to formalise their sustainable development strategy. Nevertheless, 39% of the companies surveyed still consider this subject to be ‘not a priority’.
- The Panorama reveals a clear increase in the number of companies whose main motivation is competitiveness (customer and/or market demand, legal obligations, competition). 43% of respondents say that their sustainable development approach comes directly from management.
- Despite the fact that image and customer positioning are often perceived as the main assets of a sustainable development strategy, less than half of companies actively communicate about their actions in this area.
- Although the budget allocation for sustainable development has increased significantly between 2022 and 2024, the majority of companies have not yet implemented concrete strategic measures to protect the environment. On the other hand, almost all of them have adopted measures to improve quality of life and well-being at work.
These results show that it is essential to continue efforts to raise awareness, train and support businesses, while strengthening measures to facilitate their transition.
The House of Sustainability will continue to play a central role in this process, working closely with key players in the ecosystem, such as the INDR, IMS and the Chambre des Métiers.
The digital report "Panorama du développement durable en entreprise 2024" presenting the full results of the survey is now available.
