As the leading network of Luxembourg organisations committed to sustainability, we exchange and collaborate with sustainability managers on a daily basis as part of our activities. Active for more than 17 years in the Grand Duchy, we observe, and support depending on our projects, the developments, aspirations, challenges and successes of this profession.
At a time when sustainability is being increasingly adopted and implemented in organisations, while at the same time being frequently questioned and sometimes even challenged, we felt it relevant to reflect on the role of the sustainability manager by proposing a specific job reference framework to support current and future professionals and recruiters.
Developed in collaboration with Gwladys Costant, Partner, GOTOFreedom and Co-President of fr2s (Federation for Recruitment, Search & Selection), and Pascal Moisy, Head of Communications, Sustainability & Community Investments, ArcelorMittal Luxembourg and member of the Board of Directors of IMS Luxembourg, the document lists the tasks, technical skills, interpersonal qualities and transferable skills of the role of sustainability manager.
It also presents the testimonies of 15 sustainability managers from IMS member organisations, who shed a particularly rich light on their role through their understanding, vision and implementation of the latter.
Like all professions, the sustainability professions evolve and become more refined over time. Contact us to share your feedback so that we can complete and adjust this document as the profession evolves. We thank you in advance and would be delighted to discuss this topic with you.
The reference framework will be presented at the IMS conference on 6 February 2025.
