IT'S TIME TO... Disconnect

Published on 1 August 2023

Take a breath of fresh air and disconnect.

Disconnecting helps prevent stress, psychosocial risks, physical problems and promotes productivity and creativity when you return to work.

Here are a few tips to help you recharge your batteries:

  1. Define the framework: discuss the conditions beforehand when someone is on holiday. Why can they be disturbed or not? How would they like to be contacted? Agree on whether it is permissible to disturb a colleague in an "extreme emergency" and ensure that everyone understands this expression in the same way.
  2. Ask yourself whether it is really necessary and acceptable to disturb your colleague on holiday?
  3. Lead by example: failure to disconnect is often due to group pressure (or even company culture), which is self-perpetuating.
  4. Raise awareness of the need to disconnect throughout the year.
