How do we combine sustainability and competitiveness? Many companies are asking themselves this question. The challenge is to reduce the environmental impact of their activities and the associated costs while improving their efficiency and, beyond that, their reputation.

The levers for action are numerous: optimising energy use; reconsidering the energy mix by integrating more renewable energy sources; reducing water consumption and pollution; circularising product life cycles, etc.

To find out how to tackle these challenges and respond better, the Ministry of the Economy has launched the Fit 4 Sustainability programme, managed by the national innovation agency Luxinnovation.
Its objective is to enable companies of all sizes and sectors to measure their activity's environmental footprint and reduce its effects. The aim is to promote the ecological transition, an essential dimension of sustainability, by providing companies with the necessary external expertise.

The approach consists of two parts: an analysis of the environmental footprint of the company's existing activity and support from external consultants, approved by Luxinnovation, to find solutions to the problems identified.

This approach benefits from financial support from the Ministry of the Economy, up to a maximum of €100,000, for this preliminary assessment (with a coverage rate of up to 70%) and for the definition of the roadmap that will be proposed by the experts involved.

This action plan may consist of both good practices to be initiated and investments for which Luxinnovation can also identify other appropriate state aid.
