Following the IMS event earlier this year, on 22 November, the EU institutions, in collaboration with the Luxembourg association Repair Café Lëtzebuerg, were pleased to host the first interinstitutional Repair Café at the European court of auditors.

Colleagues from across all the EU institutions brought along 52 objects for repair, of which roughly half were repaired on the spot.

The key objective of this type of event is obvious: a change in the attitude from throwing away items to repair and reuse them. The EU Institutions want to pursue this goal even further and gradually train their staffs on a voluntary basis, so that they can carry out repairs themselves.

Luxembourg's Environmental coordinators and the volunteers of the EU institutions hope to be able to organise repair workshops three or four times a year in different institutions.
