After three postponements, the European Commission published its proposal for a Sustainability Duty of Care Directive (SDDC) on 23 February 2022. This is crucial to strengthening corporate responsibility for human and environmental rights and establishing a level playing field for companies.
The issue of due diligence has gained importance since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the many consequences European citizens and companies felt.
The speakers will answer several questions during the round table: What will impact the directive's impact on the ground? What are the strengths and weaknesses of this proposal? What challenges did the European Commission face in drafting the text? What is the position of politics, social partners and civil society in Luxembourg about the proposed directive?
