Commitment to human rights as a Luxembourg company

A call for mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence legislation

According to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, companies have a responsibility to respect human rights, including in their value chains. Some companies have already taken steps to implement this responsibility. However, experience has shown that voluntary commitments alone are not enough. Mandatory due diligence needs to be adequately implemented by all.

Human rights and environmental due diligence legislation would effectively contribute to both legal certainty and a level playing field. It would ensure that all economic actors are held to the same standards and that no company can avoid responsibility without consequences or make profits at the expense of people and nature. Today, employees, customers, investors and the general public expect companies to assume this responsibility.

Come and learn more and ask questions about the context, the companies already involved, and most importantly, why and how you can engage in due diligence.
