Refugee Youth Support and Empowerment

Project Summary
RYSE is dedicated to helping refugees in Luxembourg find employment and become better integrated into society.

Our project has a positive, long-lasting impact on the lives of current and future generations of refugees.

This is where our trained mentors come in. After induction and training, we then match individuals with a refugee who needs perhaps an hour of your time each week.

Sharing your knowledge, insights and experience will provide constructive guidance on career paths, opportunities and overcoming challenges. Through mentoring, you can leave a positive impact on the lives of others, contributing to their future and making a difference in their field or industry.

With your encouragement and support, your mentee will build their confidence. feel more assured when setting goals and creating action plans.

Through this mentoring, we strive to break down the barriers faced by refugees, reduce their isolation, practise their languages, encourage integration and learn how to best find work.

Mentoring fosters a nurturing relationship that can positively impact the mentee's personal, academic, and professional development, enabling them to achieve their goals more effectively and efficiently. It is this mentoring that will help refugees progress and improves their prospects here in Luxembourg.

About the organization
RYSE was established in 2018 in response to the need for mentoring support and work experience opportunities for young refugees in Luxembourg and it was quickly ascertained that paid employment was the critical means to their goals of integration and independence.

RYSE offers a comprehensive, high-touch, tailored support system to all youth refugees in Luxembourg, preparing them for and reducing the barriers that restrict their successful entry into the job market and facilitating their full integration into society. RYSE aims to create an environment where refugees are accepted and recognised as an asset to both local employers and to the local community.

We have developed a multifaceted, comprehensive and innovative project that has a positive, long-lasting impact on the lives of current and future generations of refugees.

Our project has three stages that are responsive to the individual beneficiary needs and prepares them thoroughly for their job search according to their situation. Initially, we provide a tailored mentoring system through which refugees’ specific skills and ambitions are evaluated. Their match with a trained, appropriate mentor will offer advice, guidance and support to engage them in meeting their individual goals and ambitions.

RYSE also then offers opportunities to gain local work experience, improving refugees’ professional networks, further adding to their socio-cultural integration and language abilities.

When beneficiaries are deemed ready to seek work, our trained mentors continue to assist with CVs, job application packs and interview preparation. RYSE has built relationships with local employers to understand their hiring needs and preferences in order to make effective employer-employee matches.

RYSE's project generates invaluable support and guidance, leading to individual empowerment, enabling each beneficiary to make informed choices about better social integration and to take action regarding their future careers. RYSE’s creating a bridge between refugees, Luxembourg residents and employers means we promote a higher level of inclusion and better engagement in Luxembourg society.
