On Wednesday, 27 April 2022, the Chamber of Deputies passed five laws known as the "Circular Economy Package" with the primary waste prevention and reduction objectives. The "Circular Economy Package" also provides the legal framework to reduce single-use plastic, littering and food waste.

From waste to resource

Two years after its introduction, the vote on the "Circular Economy Package" marks an essential step in the transition of the Luxembourg economy towards a circular economy. It is based more specifically on the principles adopted in the government's "zero waste" and "circular economy" strategies. The priority of the "Circular Economy Package" is the prevention of waste, either by avoiding it or reusing it. The package thus sets the stage for understanding waste as a resource.

A press conference with detailed explanations will occur after the new Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development takes office.
