On Tuesday, 22 March 2022, the City of Luxembourg launched the cycling season, which traditionally begins in spring with the return of sunnier days and warmer temperatures. To mark the occasion, Luxembourg City mayor Lydie Polfer, and Patrick Goldschmidt, Alderman in charge of mobility, presented an overview of the infrastructure, networks and services available to cyclists. Particular emphasis was placed on two pilot projects undertaken by the City as the largest municipality in Luxembourg (the bicycle boulevard and cyclist traffic lights projects), the two-way cycle lane project on Avenue Pasteur (scheduled for completion later this year), and the project to introduce a contraflow lane along Boulevard de la Pétrusse (works scheduled to begin in a few months). They also presented the latest figures regarding the vel'OH! self-service bicycle-hire network.
