High-level conference on a proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive – the way forward

Published on 30 April 2021

Sustainable News

The Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) requires certain large companies to report on social issues, employees and the environment, human rights and corruption. However, the information currently registered does not meet the requirements. The European Commission is currently reviewing the NFRD to address this situation and ensure that this non-financial information is disclosed, relevant, comparable, reliable and easy to access and use. On April 21, 2021, the Commission adopted a proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which would amend the current requirements of the NFRD.

This high-level conference is an opportunity for stakeholders to learn more about the key issues and objectives of the proposal and its practical implications. It will alternate between panels and keynote speeches by European and international leaders in sustainable finance, including Commissioner McGuinness. The panels will address, among other things, the role of sustainability reporting standards in promoting better sustainability reporting by companies.
