Fidelity, IMS member, tells you about his community day organized for the Fondation Autisme Luxembourg

Network news

On the 26th of September, thanks to Part&Act, 10 Fidelity employees traveled to northern Luxembourg to spend a day as volunteers for the Fondation Autisme Luxembourg. A good opportunity to both build cohesion among employees and to have a social impact in Luxembourg. Discover Paul Witham’s testimony on this instructive community day.

"Wherever Fidelity International operates we seek to support charitable causes with the aim of improving the lives of others. We do this by engaging with our employees so they decide on the local causes we support and thereby help to build better futures for the communities in which we operate.

Fidelity International Luxembourg recently became members of IMS, and were introduced to the association Fondation Autisme Luxembourg (FAL). A group of 10 volunteers from Fidelity travelled up to the north of Luxembourg to spend the day at FAL’s Munshausen site in September helping with a number of small projects.

The volunteering day started with a tour of the site and a presentation of the association and its mission by Luc the site manager and Patrick the communications and relations manager, introducing us to the educators and beneficiaries of the centre. The beneficiaries are adults of all ages who suffer from severe forms of autism, they stay at the centre all year round and requiring support 24/7. The educators are incredible people, skilled, caring and patient and support the beneficiaries in many different ways.

Our activities included gardening work, such as removing weeds, cleaning the patio, moving stones to finish a structure for goats and pigs in the farm, making jam and stuffing envelopes for FAL’s autumn fund raising mailing.

After thanking the volunteers, the site manager Luc said ‘’this weekend we barbecue’’ clearly happy with the clean and tidy terrace. A simple comment but one that filled the volunteers with pride to be able to make this small improvement."
