Société Générale Luxembourg's motivation to participate in IMS Luxembourg's activities:

Société Générale Luxembourg's business is carried out in accordance with our Group'score principles while also taking into account any particularities of the Luxembourg ecosystem. Our compliance with these principles demonstrates our willingness to engage in sustainable and innovative projects within a challenging social and environmental framework, to benefit from the experience within the IMS teams, and to be able to share our experience with other members. Combining our efforts and expertise with those of the IMS is a key to successfully preparing for the future together.

Société Générale Luxembourg's CSR policy:

Our goal is to be a leading player among European financial institutions with respect to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Our corporate responsibility policy is based upon the implementation of our commitments and revolves around the following strategic areas:

  • The development of responsible funding, notably in relation to the application of General Environmental and Corporate Principles in all sectors
  • Offering socially responsible banking services
  • Tightening responsible employer procedures
  • Exemplary management of its environmental and in relation to all purchasing
  • Tightening its role within the heart of civil society.

Société Générale Luxembourg's CSR actions and frameworks:

Our collaborators provide weekly assistance during “Citizen Commitment Times”, which is an opportunity to empower the awareness of solidarity thanks to a range of initiatives enabling several associated projects to be supported. During 2015, our collaborators pedalled bicycles (“spinning”), on behalf of Luxembourg's Special Olympics association. It is an association that makes sporting activities available to mentally handicapped people enabling them to develop physically and psychologically and improve their integration into society. Either individually or together as a team, our collaborators completed the maximum distance in kilometres which was then converted into Euros by SG Luxembourg's board to raise funds to support the association's projects.

We are also engaged in a number of local associations through our joint patronage and sponsoring of music. For example, we assist the EME Foundation (Listening for Better Understanding) which organises concerts and interactive workshops at the Luxembourg Philharmonic for people with special needs or living in social exclusion.

Furthermore, throughout the year, Société Générale Luxembourg supports solidarity projects put forward by its collaborators (donation of materials, clothing drives, toys, sale of objects on behalf of associations...).

Finally, we have also implemented a multi annual programme aimed at promoting equal opportunities which enabled us to receive a “Positive Actions” label and ministerial approval. And we have been rewarded with the “SuperDrecksKëscht®” label for our waste recycling facilities.
