Over 60 participants gathered at the FOOD WASTE ZERO: The Challenge evend organised at the Carré in Hollerich on Friday March 9th. A broad spectrum of stakeholders were represented to ideate and develop concrete solutions around the challenge of food waste in Luxembourg; the dynamic was very fruitful and ambitious projects emerged from this join effort.
Organised within the two-day Transition Days: Our Food Our Future festival, this co-creative morning started off by providing attendees with the opportunity to discover existing and inspiring European initiatives. They could then apply their knowledge and ideals to tackle challenges revolving around the implication of the consumer in the fight against food waste, the creation of new valorisation channels for unsold surplus, the need to collect statistical data or the optimisation of production plans. Following a brainstorming phase, the second part of the workshop allowed participants to elaborate their ideas into more concrete and structured initiatives, fostering reflextions about targets, key success factors and partners to reach out to. The entrepreneurs having shared their experience at the beginning of the day also took part in the discussions, coached the creative process and facilitated the formalisation of projects proposals.
The result were encouraging: 9 projects were developed, including solutions for coporate restaurant surplus food, educational projects in maisons relais, new models of food donations and striking communication campaigns.
After pitching their ideas to the group and exchanging valuable feedback and comments, participants enjoyed a networking lunch prepared by Délice Végétal.
